Planning your Benagil trip
Benagil is about 10 nautical miles east of Portimão. The skipper chooses the best time to visit depending on the swell and the crowds.
Which boat is best?
The motor boat is the best value for small groups. The catamaran and yachts are more comfortable for a longer day with lunch on board.
How long does it take?
Allow 3 to 3 h 30 for the caves and a swim stop, or a full day to include Marinha, Carvoeiro and Ferragudo.
Can we go inside the cave?
Access inside the Benagil cave is restricted by the maritime authorities, so your skipper stops at the entrance for the best view and photos, then takes you to the other caves and beaches nearby.
Best time of day
Mornings are usually calmer and less crowded, and the light inside the cave is best around midday.

How much is a private Benagil boat trip from Portimão?
From €610 on a catamaran or €700 on the motor boat for 3 to 3 h 30, including VAT and skipper.
Will we see dolphins?
Dolphins are often seen along this coast, especially in the morning, but sightings can’t be guaranteed.
Where do the boats leave from?
Every boat on this site leaves from Portimão Marina. We send you the exact meeting point when your booking is confirmed. Please arrive 15 to 30 minutes before departure.
How does the 25% deposit work?
Choose your boat, date and time and send us the booking by WhatsApp or email. We confirm availability and send you a secure link to pay the deposit. You pay the rest on the day.
What is the cancellation policy?
It depends on the boat and is confirmed before you pay. If the skipper cancels because of the weather or sea conditions, you can move your date or get your deposit back.
Do prices include VAT?
Yes. All prices shown include Portuguese VAT and are per boat, not per person. They are confirmed when you book.
Do I need a boat licence?
No. Every boat comes with a professional skipper, and fuel and insurance are included.
